This is my exit review for their hosting services. Thanks, Sharkspace, for the very friendly and professional hosting!
Note: I left Sharkspace not because of any negative experience, but because I was using so little resources that I'm now sharing hosting with a friend instead.
Hosting experienceI've been with hosts who go down for days, or even disappear entirely off the face of the earth, so it was very refreshing to have a quality host for a change. I use a free 15-min interval monitoring service to check that my sites are up (a little long, I know, but hey - free), and for my ENTIRE time with Sharkspace, I've not been notified even once about my sites being down. I used to run a business site on Sharkspace, so uptime was definitely important to me. Sharkspace definitely kept to their promise of 99.9% uptime.
I've never had to claim from Sharkspace for downtime during my entire time with them
Also, I get good speed at all hours of the day despite being located half a world away (Singapore), so that's another plus point. Usually servers are horribly slow during the nighttime when they are doing backups, but I didn't detect any such issues while I was with them.
Service standardSharkspace has been great in terms of customer service. On 2 occasions where I missed their email announcements (because I rarely check the email that I've registered with them), not only were they very patient in re-informing me, they were also very polite and professional about it. I can only imagine that some support reps might be impatient with customers who don't check their email accounts before firing off support tickets, so kudos to Sharkspace for their professionalism.
Support qualityFinally - support that isn't just 24/7, but also almost instantaneous. In those rare times that I had support issues, Sharkspace answered all of them in under 2 hours, most within 30 minutes. And that is during the afternoon in Singapore, which means the middle of the night in USA.
And it's not just the speed, but the quality of the support as well. I always get straightforward, detailed answers which don't require me to prompt them for more information. All I need from them is within the replies. In this way, most of issues were resolved within a single reply.
If you're new to purchasing web hosting, I cannot stress enough about the need for quality support. And quality support is the service standard at Sharkspace
